There are still a number of subscribers here according to Analytics / Feedburner, so I wanted to remind everyone that Casual WoW has moved to Diabolical Minds. All of the posts from here have been imported there, although some of the external links will probably not work correctly. This domain will expire in April of 2010, and I want to make sure that anyone looking for me knows where to find me.

I’ll remind everyone again before the domain expires :)

I have been debating a number of things surrounding Casual WoW and how I can best respond to both the expectations that you all have of me and those I have for myself. This blog was originally started on a bit of whim as a place to just post random information and stories, and I never expected to even gain half of the readership that has subscribed thus far.

I have thought of a number of various topics that I wanted to explore, but when I originally created Casual WoW I sort of limited myself in scope with its name. In addition, I now have a solid plan and desire for growth that this site is not really the best suited for. Rest assured I have no intention of quitting WoW or of not writing about the same types of topics, but I am planning to expand and do so through what amounts to a combination of both a new project and a complete rebranding of this site (I alluded to these potential changes back in April, though the implementation has completely changed since my original idea).

While I will not be taking Casual WoW offline, I will be posting everything to my “new project” and home at Diabolical Minds. Eventually I’ll be able to create an archive section at Diabolical Minds as well and move all of the content there to make it easier to locate older information in addition to the new, but that is not a high priority at the moment.

I hope everyone becomes as excited as I am about this new endeavor, and I cannot emphasize how much I truly want to know what everyone thinks of these changes. Send me an email, talk about things with me on twitter, leave a comment… whichever you are most comfortable with. The point is, I really want your feedback!

While I don’t want to really provide any details yet publicly, I’ve begun working on something of a side project and am looking for potentially interested parties to contact me directly to learn more/contribute.

The basics (or at least what I’ll divulge publicly for now) of what I’m looking for:

  • Contributors (sorry, I can’t get more specific on this one yet)
  • If someone has solid graphic design skills and wants to help I would love to hear from you and get some assistance, and the same goes with web/php development skills (not to worry, I’m only looking for help on getting a few things set up initially, and while I’m slowly figuring it out, someone with the skillset that wants to help would make it much easier).

And some basics about the project itself:

  • The project is blog-related.
  • I’m looking for both guest contributors and regular contributors, so even if you’re concerned about time if you’re interested send me an email.
  • Contributions are not limited to articles only, though there will be some guidelines involved.

I know that is still very vague, but without having a definite timeframe for wrapping things up and not knowing the types of responses I will or won’t receive I don’t want to give out too much information too soon. Things are coming along nicely, though, and I’m anticipating being able to launch this endeavor by the end of the month!

Just a brief note, the Character and Intro pages have been updated, and will probably be receiving more substantial attention soon. Let me know if there is specific information you guys are actually interested in!

I am certain my relative quietness as of late has been noticed, so I wanted to take some time to provide updates as to why, what to expect soon, and hopefully allay any fears that may have arisen (though I’m doubting anyone is overly concerned).

First, the why:

I have a lot of topics that I wanted to write about, but with 3.1 looming over our heads I knew a lot of the content would be changing. I do not generally jump on the PTR much, if any, and so I decided it best to wait for the patch to hit and gain live information before updating my posts. Primarily, this is the sole reason I’ve refrained from posting much as of late, though not the only reason (others are related to trying to get some things squared away personally, so while they are applicable they are not WoW related).

Now, what to expect:

My Druid is my main, and will continue to be. It is not, however, the only class that I play. In the coming weeks I plan to broaden my focus a little more to include some topics that relate to the other classes I play, although the Druid will continue to be the one I cover most. I have a level 80 Rogue, a 78 Death Knight, and a 73 Priest (which is the one I’m currently working on leveling to raid with when I’m not raiding with my Druid). I know I cannot cover them all with the depth and detail deserved and will not attempt to, but expect to see some things related to those classes as well.

In addition, I’ve been considering making some changes to the site overall. This process started with the revised look, and since then I’ve mulled over whether or not “Casual WoW” is really applicable as a title anymore. The domain will stay, and everything will remain seamless (feeds included unless I post otherwise), but I am thinking of closing another project I have that has been left dormant for some time now and utilizing that domain/name/branding here. I think it fits well, and since I already own the domain (and it is hosted on the same server), all I would need to do is a basic redirect and some rebranding here. In short, do not be surprised if I announce that those changes will be coming after all.

I definitely want to hear from you all as well. I’ve received a number of comments on various topics, but feedback is vastly important when considering whether or not to make these changes happen. Normally I’m very good about commenting back here, so please engage me in discussions (after all, if I wasn’t interested in getting to know you all more I would just have comments turned off anyway!) and let me know what you think of my ideas.

  • Post 3.1 Healing Guide for Druids (definitely coming)
  • A Look at Healing Variety in Druids and Priests
  • A Healer’s Guide to Learning to Tank (Role-Changing and How to Adapt)
  • Adaptive DPS, What Every Class Should Understand
  • More RP Posts (I’m not getting a lot of feedback on these, and though I enjoy them immensely they may be discontinued if interest continues to be lackluster)
  • A complete rewrite of my character and about pages… these are sorely lacking and need to be done.

So, let me know what you have to say!
